In late October, new and veteran runners, servicemen and women came together in DC to participate in the 2013 annual Marine Corp Marathon, as part of Team Safe Kids. Runners work to raise awareness and resources for Safe Kids Worldwide, a global organization dedicated to preventing childhood injuries, the number one cause of death to children in the United States.
Safe Kids Reduces Childhood Injuries Worldwide
Throughout the world, more than one million children die of an injury each year, and every one of these tragedies is preventable. Safe Kids works with an extensive network of more than 600 coalitions in the United States and partners in 27 countries to reduce traffic injuries, drowning, falls, burns, poisonings and more. Since 1988, Safe Kids has helped reduce the U.S. childhood death rate from unintentional injury by 55 percent.
