2012 started with the death of two young hood river snowboarders on OR 35 on their way to Mount Hood Meadows. According to Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, on January 27 Taylur Dewolf of Sandy, Oregon Was killed at Mt. Hood Ski Bowl that morning when she struck a tree at high speed while snowboarding. Investigation revealed severe head and chest trauma.

On February 12 Oregon State Police clocked two drivers speeding 97 mph in a 45 mph zone on the Highway 26 safety corridor near Welches. Viatcheslav Kuzmin was arrested for speed racing, driving while suspended, DUII and having an open container of alcohol. According to Oregon State Police each driver blamed the other. The other driver was cited for speed racing.
