PORTLAND, OR – The driver believed to be responsible for a fatal wrong-way collision on I-5 on Sunday is now facing a number of charges in connection to the incident.
According to The Oregonian, 40-year-old Amr Elzagh was driving south in the northbound lanes of the interstate at about 11 p.m. when his vehicle slammed head-on into another near the I-405 interchange.
The driver of the second vehicle, 34-year-old Salvador Manuel Rodriguez-Lopez, was pronounced dead at the scene. Elzagh suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Elzagh has since been charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants and manslaughter.
