PORTLAND, OR – One person died and three others were hospitalized following a three-vehicle crash in the Hazel Dell area on Saturday night.
According to KATU, the crash occurred when a southbound vehilce on I-5 broke down near the exit to 78th Street.
Shortly after a second vehicle pulled over to assist the driver of the disabled car, a third vehicle careened off the side of the road and into the other vehicles. The force of the impact pushed the first vehicle into the three people standing on the shoulder.
The driver of the first vehicle, 36-year-old Ying Ting, of Portland, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two occupants of the second vehicle and the driver of the third vehicle were hospitalized with unknown injuries.
Investigators believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. Our team will update this blog, should more information come to light.
